Vets Now is an out-of-hours emergency veterinary clinic (opened in 2007) for dogs, cats and small animals, operating at nights, weekends and bank holidays. It’s RCVS-accredited as a Small Animal Emergency Service Clinic (ESC). Recent reviews describe quick triage from the initial phone call through to being seen, with several owners mentioning thorough examinations, clear explanation of “what could happen next”, and follow-up after an urgent visit. Reviews also flag a recurring downside around cost and, in a few cases, dissatisfaction with a vet’s communication (including one report of not being properly examined and another describing a very brief consult).
4 stars from 417 reviews. - Speed and organisation: owners mention quick responses on the phone, being given an appointment very quickly, and pets being taken through promptly on arrival.

Excellent follow up from an urgent visit a few days earlier, thorough examination, and good advice on further recovery

Very disappointed vet was rude. Lot of money for not a great response. Won’t be returning here

The response on the phone was quick, an appointment given very quickly too and a good timeline, the staff were thoughtful and considerate of my boy, very thorough and clear with what should or could be to happen next, even with the pet insurance and cost

The reception team are so welcoming and sensitive. The vet I saw seemed to have a heavy cold and he was not very communicative. He did not even examine my dog (who had and still has a stomach problem). He only took a temperature and then leaned nonchalantly against the wall, shrugged and suggested bloods. He then took him away with no explanation of what my dog was being tested for. I felt like he was very dismissive of a very anxious dog owner, no communication skills and not an ounce of empathy. I had to ask to speak to someone else in order to find out next steps for my dog. Paid £520 to be treated like an inconvenience. Previous visits have been wonderful though.

Excellent service from phone call to arrival and my 4 day pup was taken out the back immediately. Nurses and staff very kind,I left the vet with my pup and was advised he was too small for any pain relief, another one of my dogs had caused puncture wounds. All unsure whether he would survive but told mums milk was the best thing for him.He is still with us and doing well.I Hector mini daxie, thankyou. The only reason 4 stars instead of 5 is the price, his antibiotics cost 12 pence the bill was just over £180.00.

On Sunday my dog had a stick injury. VetsNow were amazing. Vets Maria and Caroline were great with him and me (who was extremely emotional) The nurses (whose names I didn’t catch) were so kind and made me feel so comfortable ❤️ They promptly referred him for surgery at Davies, they were clear about cost and gave me clear options and helped me to guide my decision. Very grateful for this service

Absolutely excellent service from the people on the phone and in the surgery. Kind and friendly receptionist and can't fault the vet I saw (Caroline) as she is my usual and favourite vet at my usual practice. My only problem is the eye-watering out of eye consultation fee. I would expect to pay extra for out of hours, but I think that was over the top. However, I am extremely grateful for the service being there when needed. Definitely recommend them though. Thank you to everyone.

Absolutely dreadful experience. If I could give 0 stars I would. Travelled to this clinic through a storm as our nearest out of hours from this chain was closed. Our dog was having what I had assumed were seizures. The vet was dismissive, told me that unfortunately he cannot speak to animals and couldn’t diagnose an issue. He gave my dog an anti-nausea injection despite him not having vomited. I was with the vet for less than 5 minutes. He then told me to wait in reception for him and never returned. I asked to speak with a manager but there wasn’t one. The receptionist was lovely and tried to help as much as she could, but obviously needed to charge me (the £320 consultation fee!!) The following morning we sadly had to have my dog put to sleep as he was so unwell. I have raised a formal complaint but have been told this will take up to seven weeks to resolve.
